Sunday: Healing Service in St Anne's at 6.30 p.m.
Wednesday: Lent Service in St Anne's at 7.15 p.m.
Next Sunday is Mothering Sunday and as part of this we will be celebrating in St Anne’s 140 years of Mothers’ Union.
Recently, the Church of Ireland Bishops’ Appeal partnered with Christian Aid and Tear Fund to respond to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Yemen. Bishops’ Appeal Chairman, the Right Revd. Patrick Rooke, called on congregations across Ireland to respond to this crisis.
On the first Sunday of Lent, many Drumglass parishioners responded to the appeal by giving up their Sunday lunch to attend a Soup Lunch in the parish hall. This was a most enjoyable and successful event raising over £2000 in aid of the people of Yemen. We have witnessed on the news the recent appeal for the East Africa Humanitarian Crisis. This needs your ongoing prayers, support and generosity which are very much appreciated. Bishop’s Appeal envelopes are available in the pews.
2019 will be the Sesquicentenary of St Anne’s Church. The Select Vestry has decided that one of the ways we will mark this significant anniversary will be the renovation and extension of our suite of halls. This work will actually begin in the next few months with Phase One which is the re-roofing of the halls at a cost of £100,000.
Phase Two will provide lift access from the car park to the same level as the church as well as new meeting rooms, youth lounge, storage, toilets and new parish office. We are in the planning phase at the moment and will soon have cost estimates from the quantity surveyor.
The halls have been an incredible blessing and resource for Drumglass Parish since they were built in 1973. We want to continue to have high quality and accessible halls that will stand the test of time as a superb resource for our Church.
Rest assured you will be hearing much, much more about the project.
